What We Do
F2F provides students with innovative educational programs that are service-oriented in an effort to end sexual assault. These unique events teach students how to address sexual violence in their community openly and to support survivors through interactive activities.
Our signature Hour 2 Empower event allows students and community members to come together to assemble F2F AfterCare Kits and iCare Kits. Community partners, including organizations and universities, then distribute these thoughtfully packed kits to either survivors of sexual violence who underwent the PERK (physical evidence recovery kit) exam, or to those who might have shared their story later on.
During this exam, sexual assault victims’ personal belongings and clothing are often collected as evidence. Our F2F AfterCare Kits give a "gift of hope" to these survivors, preserving their dignity and providing basic needs like clothes and toiletries along with therapy tools. To date, F2F has distributed more than 30,000 AfterCare and iCare Kits.
Why We Matter
The statistics are staggering. According to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center:
1 in every 4 women and 1 in 16 men will be the victims of sexual assault during their time in college.
More than 90% of sexual assault victims on college campuses do not report the assault.
Among American children, 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused before they reach college (18 years old).
The number “2” in Fear 2 Freedom is also a statistic. At the time F2F was founded, every 2 minutes someone in the United States was sexually assaulted. Now that number is every 68 seconds.
Today every 68 seconds someone in the United States is sexually assaulted.
While we applaud awareness campaigns like the #MeToo movement and the fact that more victims are now empowered to report sexual assault, that is still an appalling statistic.
