For the past seven years, Fran has been a devoted board member of Fear 2 Freedom, an organization she believes in deeply. What initially drew her in—and continues to inspire her—is the energy and passion that founder Rosemary Trible brings to the mission and the work. That same spirit has fueled Fran’s commitment to the cause.
With more than 25 years of experience in nonprofit management, Fran brings a wealth of leadership and operational expertise to the organization. She currently serves as the President of Operations at the Patient Advocate Foundation and is a proud mother of three daughters—a role that further deepens her connection to Fear 2 Freedom’s mission.
“The concern around sexual assault and sexual violence on college campuses is real,” Fran emphasizes, highlighting the urgency and importance of the organization’s work.
Fran has held significant leadership roles on the board. She spent two years as Board President, following two years as Vice President. Throughout all seven years, she has remained active on the finance committee and currently also serves on both the executive and nominating committees. Most recently, she led the search committee that hired Fear 2 Freedom’s current CEO—an experience she describes as truly amazing.
Among her most cherished moments with the organization are the Shadow Events at Christopher Newport University. “Seeing how these events impact the people who are there has been really powerful to witness,” she shares. These events, along with the organization’s tri-annual Gala, are some of the most moving experiences that reflect the heart of Fear 2 Freedom’s mission.
Fran believes the organization is currently experiencing a lot of positive momentum and is excited for what’s ahead. Looking ahead, she envisions Fear 2 Freedom reaching more communities, building new partnerships, and expanding its message of prevention and support.
A powerful realization that has stayed with her over the years is understanding that sexual assault doesn’t just mean rape—there are many forms of sexual violence, and people need to be educated and supported accordingly. Fran is passionate about spreading that message and ensuring survivors know they are not alone.
She has made it her mission to share Fear 2 Freedom’s story with as many people as she can. Whether by inviting people to events or simply raising awareness through conversation, Fran is a tireless advocate for its work—and for those it serves.
